We are looking for a responsible, autonomous individual to fill the role of HR and Recruitment/Retention Specialist for all our valued employees in the Okanagan.

Duties and responsibilities

This role requires someone who loves a varied day, including days in the office and on the road.  Your day may include travel to a work site to deliver corrective action, return to the office to conduct a group orientation and hire 5-10 new employees, including onboarding and training, then back out to another office to recruit directly from a course.  Your next day may be spent at a hiring fair and then visiting employees on the road to check how their first week is going.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related Human Resource experience
  • Experience within the construction or traffic control industry
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS (we use BambooHR)
  • Effective supervisory and leadership skills, ability to work cooperatively in teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Service-oriented, responsive, self-motivated and proactive
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality
  • Autonomous, but able to meet deadlines
  • Able to see the big picture and put forth solutions
  • Passionate, driven and authentic
  • Demonstrated success in recruitment and full-cycle recruitment
  • Experience using social media for recruitment purposes
  • Experience with hiring/career fairs, out of the box recruitment initiatives
  • Ensuring retention with “boots on the ground”
