Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as a key member of the Executive Management Team, the Vice President – Finance (VPF) assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the Company.  With an emphasis on both organic and acquisition growth, the VPF focuses on building a strong, sustainable organization and implements financial standards and scalable processes that fulfil the Company purpose: To Provide Peace of Mind.

As the leader of a large team, and a key member of the Executive Team, the VPF does more than just crunch numbers; the VPF develops, manages, motivates, retains, and inspires a team of accounting professionals that embrace the company core values: Passionate, Authentic and Driven.

Qualifications

  • A CPA/CA plus an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or related discipline. A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is considered an ASSET.
  • Must be seen externally as a highly-skilled financial leader with a demonstrated track record of leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence, ability to motivate staff, for at least 10 years.
  • A track record of using the financial and operational analysis to help operations and the broader organization improve business performance and profitability.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, complex, growing, entrepreneurial, and dynamic organization punctuated with open dialogue.
  • Previous experience partnering with an executive team that demonstrated an inspiring, engaging, and collaborative leadership style with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively while maintaining flexibility (must be accessible outside normal business hours, as required).
  • High attention to detail and focused on process improvement with excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to leverage ERP systems to better facilitate accounting processes is an ASSET.
  • Experience with organic growth as well as change/expansion through alliances, joint ventures and acquisitions is an ASSET.

The VPF enables the production of timely and accurate financial statements and supporting analyses to support senior executives at both the corporate and regional level.  Specifically, the VPF is responsible for the financial management, guidance and compliance that supports successful ongoing profitable growth in a resource-efficient fashion.

The VPF ensures vital administrative and reporting procedures are in place and combines inspirational leadership and the vision necessary to facilitate success and expansion.  Instilling the proper financial and operational controls the VPF encourages business discipline and promotes, interprets, and translates in-depth financial information into meaningful information and metrics that drive business decisions and growth and support strategic and operational decision making. Financial statements, budgets, costs, capital investment analysis, banking relations, financial reports, business development support, and strategy support are a few of the responsibilities.
