Provides candidates with the knowledge and skills to teach core Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses: Emergency and Standard First Aid, CPR, AED, Marine Basic First Aid, Emergency and Standard Child Care First Aid. The course includes how to teach and facilitate for both individual and group assignments, practice teaching, injury prevention principles, inclusion, and progressive learning.
All applicants must be at least 18 years old and have the ability to perform first aid skills required to complete the learning tasks.
Proof of current Standard First Aid (or higher) with CPR (Health Care Provider).
Certification requires full participation and course attendance. Candidates must demonstrate practical skill competency and achieve 70% on a multiple choice exam. Participant must satisfy two co-teaches without guidance from instructor. Upon successful completion, the participant will receive certification that is valid for three years.
The duration of the course is 40 hours over 5 consecutive days.
