The Universal Health and Safety Training Academy offers over 45 courses from our centrally located site in Burnaby, B.C. and four other sites around the province.

Traffic Control Person (TCP / Flagger) Certification (Burnaby)

Construction flagging is a challenging job and needs the utmost attention and care. The TCP certification program is required to be completed prior to becoming a flagger. CSA approved steel toed boots with ankle support are required during this course.


Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1

The WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level 1 course is an 8 hour program, including coffee and lunch breaks and is designed to provide life-saving first aid skills to workers in industry. Successful candidates must demonstrate competency in practical skills and achieve 70% or higher on a multiple choice exam. Certification is valid for three years.


Trade Safety Coordinator (TSC) (Burnaby)

The TSC course provides students with the understanding of the Worker’s Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation for BC. Students will be able to explain the history of safety and the basic principles for an Occupational Health and Safety program and well as the roles within it.


Construction Safety Officer (CSO) (Burnaby)

The Construction Safety Officer Training program provides a deeper understanding of the Worker Compensation Act and the Occupation Health and Safety Regulations and a way to effectively apply it on the job.

TCP Recertification Course (Burnaby)

Once completed, each graduating student is issued a three-year certificate that allows them the ability to work anywhere in BC as a Traffic Control Person.
